The “Nota Solidária” Program

Beginning in October 2005, MURI has participated in a state-wide government initiative called the “Nota Solidária” program. This program offers its residents the option of trading in their fiscal receipts for coupons that can be raffled off for prizes such as cars and televisions. However, the true beneficiaries are the educational and community organizations that are sponsored by the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Their mission is to collect and redeem these fiscal receipts in order to receive government funding.
MURI conducted an internal collection of fiscal receipts from its employees in order to benefit the Daycare Center “Anjinhos da Guarda” which is maintained by the Association of Mothers and Fathers of Vila Nova Brasília, a low-income community with few resources close to MURI’s facilities. Therefore, they will receive MURI’s contributions in addition to their normal government funding.

MURI sends new assembly line to the United States
System will assemble door modules for the Japanese Mitsubishi Eclipse

MURI will send an assembly line this Saturday, November 6, to Chicago, Illinois in the United States, for the German company BROSE Technik für Automobile. This production line, developed by the Rio Grande do Sul company, is going to assemble door modules for the Mitsubishi Eclipse, whose launch is set for 2005.
With experience from developing similar lines for Corolla, Fox, Pólo, Vectra and Zafira, all clients of Brose Brazil, MURI has created for the first time, a line that assembles the door and window and still allows for adjustments to be made to the window. Because the Eclipse does not have a dedicated window frame within the door, the window touches the body of the vehicle. In order to guarantee a perfect seal to prevent any leakage, it is imperative to have a perfect adjustment of the window.
This assembly line allows for 10 work stations, occupies 90 square meters, weighs 30 tons, and allows the assembly of 35 door modules per hour. Mitsubishi's forecast is to produce 55 thousand vehicles in 2005. Therefore, Brose should produce 110 thousand doors within the next year. The system will be transported to New York via air and will then be shipped by truck to Chicago, where Brose is located.
This is the first assembly line that will be exported to Brose in the United States, a sale captured by the MURI subsidiary in Detroit, Michigan. Brose is a long-time customer of MURI in Brazil.
This project was developed over the past 13 months and involved close to 35 professionals from Automation Engineers, Mechanics, Electrical Engineers, and Assembly Technicians from MURI in Brazil. The result of a joint venture between Brose and the Japanese company Shiroki, the project counted on the participation of German, English, American, and Japanese engineers in its final phase.

Exporting Machines - and people Exporting Machines - and people
Tatiana Csordas - Apr/20/2004

MURI's anniversary tastes like maturity. The manufacturer of assembly systems for automotive parts from Brazil completes 18 years of existence and consolidates itself as an international company. The company has a subsidiary in the US and the businesses begin to go beyond the machinery. "A North-American customer bought our equipments and liked the service so much that they ended up hiring two of our engineers", tells the executive director José Mário de Carvalho Junior. "Besides the machinery, we export knowledge". Human resource has been making the difference for those who work with high technology. Last year, the company reached US$ 14 million. 60% came from international sales. MURI solutions are in United States, England and Mexico. "Soon we will be in China", says Carvalho Junior.
